Unfortunately, a business can grow too fast.

We all want to start and grow a business as rapidly as possible but the truth is if the growth happens too fast, it can kill the business.

If you manufacture a product, you have to really watch closely how well you’re able to fulfill demand because many times, you only get one shot with consumers. If you’re product isn’t available when they want it, your fucked.

And on the other side, if you provide a service where time is your product, you have to make sure you don’t over extend yourself.

Service providers especially tend to have a feast or famine mentality so they rarely ever turn down business even though they sometimes should.

The best thing you can do for your business if you’re starting to see fast growth is to be proactive and not reactive to it. Don’t sit back on your heels and wait until you absolutely need to make moves to accommodate growth.

Investigate scalable operations for manufacturing and distribution and if you’re a service business, begin laying out a process for hiring employees to assist you or take over some of the client burden.

Don’t fear fast growth. Just be prepared and quick to act when growth happens.
